The New York Post had a neat slideshow detailing some of the most expensive insurance policies taken out on celebrity body parts.
Some of the insurance policies are only rumored so I can’t confirm whether or not they actually exist, but several other websites mention similar policies for the same celebrities so I’m inclined to believe they are legitimate.
Christiano Ronaldo’s legs are insured for an impressive $144 million. That may seem like a lot but for a guy whose entire career revolves around his ability to run on the soccer field, it’s a worthwhile insurance policy.
Similarly, Fred Astaire once insured his legs for $75,000 to protect himself in case an injury kept him from performing his trademark dance moves.
Of course, it’s not just legs that are insured. The late, great Jimmy Durante once had a $20,000 insurance policy on his one of a kind nose. Durante had a unique look and if anything took that away he might have had trouble landing film roles.
The same goes for Bruce Springsteen and the $5.7 million policy on his voice. If anything happens to his voice and he is unable to perform the policy will make up for some of the income he would lose.
Daniel Craig has been known to do many of his own stunts in his role as James Bond, so it is no surprise his body is insured for a whopping $9.5 million.
Female celebrities in particular understand the value of insuring their best assets. Holly Madison’s breasts are insured for $1 million and Jennifer Lopez’s amazing rear end is covered by a $27 million policy!
The largest policy mentioned by the policy belongs to Mariah Carey, whose stunning legs are insured for a hard to believe $1 BILLION.
That’s a billion with a B.
I can’t imagine what the premium is for a policy like that and I’m not sure what it covers, but it does seem like overkill since she doesn’t really need her legs in order to perform as a singer.
What do you think about celebrity body parts being insured for amazing amounts of money?
