Well, another year has come and gone and now it’s time to look back on what we accomplished in the last twelve months and set our goals for the year ahead of us.
I’m looking forward to 2015 and I plan to use the coming months to get back on track and move closer to my goals. We had a bit of a tough time in 2014. For the first half of the year my mom was gravely ill and shuttling back and forth between the hospital and a long term care facility. As the year went on she drifted further and further from us due to depression and the early stages of dementia. Fortunately she was only a few minutes away so I was able to see her at least a few times a week.
Her health continued to deteriorate and we ultimately made the decision to place her in hospice care. She passed away on July fourth, so now I’ll always have a sad memory associated with the holiday.
We also had some unplanned expenses that needed to be addressed (most recently we had to drop $1,300 on a new water heater) and that affected our savings and investing goals.
Between all the time spent with my mom in her final months and the additional time I’ve spent at my day job through the busy year-end season I haven’t had the time to focus much energy on my business. Wealthy Turtle ‘s traffic is still strong but income took a bit of a dip and I need to put some more energy in to revitalize the site. I also have another smaller site in mind that I want to launch soon. It’s all about grilling so I want to get it established ahead of the spring-summer season where everyone will be searching for the topic.
My other goal this year is to lose weight. Between lack of time and stress and I’ve fallen into some bad eating habits and I haven’t been getting much exercise either. I just started running again and I need to be more consistent. My goal is to end the year 20 pounds lighter than I started it.
I’m still young but the years keep flying by and with three little kids to look after I need to make sure I stay healthy.
What are your goals for 2015?
