Are you looking to save money on gas without sacrificing quality? Look no further than Costco. Costco gas stations sell a high quality gas blend that meets top tier standards, and you don’t even need to be a member to take advantage of their excellent prices (more on that in a minute). Of course if you do want to buy your gas at Costco you have to remember that not all locations have gas stations, and obviously you’ll need to know Costco gas hours so you don’t show up when they’re closed.
What Are Costco Gas Hours?
I know this is pretty frustrating but Costco gas hours vary from one store to another so we can’t really provide a standard, one size fits all answer. Even more confusing, they don’t even list the hours for Costco gas on their website.
Generally speaking they open earlier than the store itself and they usually stay open later. In most locations Costco gas stations are open by 6:00 AM and they stay open until anywhere from 6:00 to 10:00 PM.
Costco is also closed for some federal holidays when most other stores remain open. This might seem like an inconvenience to shoppers but personally I think it’s cool that they want their employees to spend time with their families.
According to Costco’s holiday schedule they are closed:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
Costco stores are open on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve but they close early, so make sure you don’t delay your shopping until the last minute.
Is Costco Gas Any Good?
You bet. Not only does it meet all federal quality standards, but it is also certified as Top Tier gasoline.
Top Tier is a designation for gas that meets higher standards of performance and purity than typical EPA standards. In other words, it’s good stuff. And since the prices are almost always cheaper than other gas stations, Costco gas is a great bargain.
Is It True Costco Gas Lines Are Always Crazy?
There are times when the line at the Costco gas station is a little out of control. That’s what happens when people smell a good deal!
Honestly, it’s all about the timing. If you go to fill up at noon on a Saturday then you can expect to sit on line for quite a while. But if you’re hitting the pump on your way to work at 6:30 AM it’s likely to be a ghost town.
Familiarize yourself with your local Costco gas hours so you can stop in when there are no crowds in sight.
Can Non-Members Buy Costco Gas?
If you check the official Costco website it says that only active members can purchase gas, but there’s a pretty big loophole. If you happen to be in possession of a Costco Cash Card (gift card) you enter the store and purchase anything you want, and that goes for Costco gas too.
Of course, you can’t get your hands on a Costco Cash Card unless you’re a member, so you can either ask a friend or family member (assuming they have a Costco membership) to buy one for you.
